Over the past decade, I have developed a comprehensive approach that incorporates a range of acupuncture tools, including Traditional Chinese Medicine, the Spirit of the Points, Manual Therapy, and Muscle-Specific Ashi Point Needling (Dry Needling), to effectively treat the pelvis and the whole person. I'd love to have you join me in sharing this work with your clients."

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Absolutely, you’ll have the opportunity to watch demonstrations, practice and feel dry needling (muscle specific ashi point needling) of the pelvic floor and the concomitant structures.

  • We’ll work with the concomitant structures of the pelvis which includes the abdomen, the back, the glutes and posterior rotators of the hip, the anterior hip muscles and the pelvic floor. The muscles and points are needled externally between the ischial bones, pubic bone and sacrum/coccyx.

  • We believe in autonomy at The Pelvic Acu, you have the right to refuse being needled. No questions asked. That said, there is a tremendous opportunity to experience the medicine you’ll be practicing.

  • Absolutely. Please make certain that Dr. Krystal know you are pregnant or may be pregnant at the time of the practical. There are certain points and muscles we want to avoid during pregnancy.

  • Generally, we don’t recommend pelvic floor needling to our clients when someone is menstruating, but it isn’t contraindicated. As far as the practical, many students have been needled while menstruating to have the experience. The choice is yours.

  • In all of our practical experiences, we have cloth drapes to ensure privacy.

  • Yes, we accept acupuncturists of any gender into our classes. As a participant, you can choose your partner/partners and we will honor your gender choices.

  • Most practitioners feel that they are immediately able to translate the techniques they’ve learned into practice and have a starting point for seeing pelvic health clients. Of course, as with any specialty, the more time you spend with the topic, the more enhanced your skills become.

  • Lots! We do about an hour and a half of lecture daily and the rest of the time, we are doing demonstrations, practicing and practically answering your questions with hands-on learning.

  • The best way to prepare for a practical is to complete the 4 hours of online training prior to attendance. Otherwise, show up with your mind and your heart open.
